Mono County Library System Director Christopher Platt will open the festival as he has for the past three years with a talk entitled "What I've Been Reading." Don't miss this time-saving and insightful review of recent books. He speaks at 9 a.m. [Photo by Don Chambers]
We are honored that David Carle will return to the festival to mock-debate Jennifer Crittenden about "Do Books Matter?" Longtime ranger at Mono Lake, David is the author of many important books about earth, water, and fire in California. The second edition of his book about fire will come out in August.
Joe Reidhead of Reidhead Publishing will talk about "Publishing Standards, Trends, and Options in 2021." This talk will save you hours of research if you want to know what's happening in the publishing and author services world. Joe has helped produce some very fine books by local authors in the last few years.
R.D. Kardon will speak about aspects of "Memoir v Novel: Tell Your Story Your Way," especially in the context of her personal experiences as a commercial pilot in a male-dominated industry and how she turned that into two thrilling novels.

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!
We have rescued a tremendous number of books over the past year which will be offered at a discount at the festival.
Fiction, children's books, beautiful biographies, and many books about the West and California. Humor, non-fiction, and some rare books.
But really. A lot of books.
The Authors Variety Show will run from 4 to 6
Authors engaging with their books:
speaking, presenting, dancing, singing,
or whatever highlights their particular talent or book
- in quick succession, on stage -
before heading over to the book sales tables to meet their fans
and sign books.

~ Bruce Springsteen
Richard Mallard passed away earlier this year. He was the author of this extraordinarily well-researched and moving account of a tragic day when several boys, teachers, and first responders all lost their lives under the ice at Convict Lake. We will be honoring his work and book at the festival.
